HomeGrownRadio is Runnin' Thangs
Superman gets lonely. Robin gets overshadowed by Batman. With heroes, trios have always been the best way to go. Let's see... we have the 3 Musketeers, Charlie's Angels, and the 3 Stooges [heroes in their own fame] to name a few. Some Miami Heat fans might even throw their Big Three in there. But, while the NBA is locked out, another BIG 3 is making noise with their talents some 2735 miles west of South Beach.
Chuck Dizzle , DJ Hed, and Miss Bliss make up the core of HomeGrownRadio, an internet radio station who's sole mission is to "bring radio back to its roots." Chuck Dizzle, the cool, calm and collected Head Nigga In Charge, is the group's host. Chuck produces and manages the Thursday night show. DJ Hed, the self-proclaimed connoisseur of yamps, is HomeGrown's DJ and engineer. Hed keeps the show together with his antics and sporadic chauvinist comments. Miss Bliss is the Diva of the show who enjoys giving listeners the business on news and rumors. Bliss brings balance to the show by countering Hed's "No Ma'am-ish" points of view. The collection of personalities make Thursday nights @ 9pm unpredictable. And that UNKNOWN component is what has allowed them to grow their loyal fan base. But, what good are heroes without a cause? Picture Superman, draped in a cape with all of his powers, sitting in a phone booth talking to some beezy while thugs run a muck in the city. Or, how about Wolverine using his strength to win arm wrestling bets while terrorist waged war on the streets.
Armed with mics, Serato, a keen ear to the streets, and a sense of urgency, HomeGrownRadio is set out to bring radio back to its roots. Remember when hip hop was the voice of the people? Over the years, its been bought out by corporations and regurgitated back out in watered down commercial form. On a typical Thursday night, HomeGrown will play songs of artists who are REALLY making a buzz in the streets. With Inbox Music, a segment in the show that offers constructive critiques to up and comers' music, even burgeoning artists get shine.
Real begets real, so artists who were once small time players in the game always return to HomeGrownRadio to show love even after attaining success. That's why, on any given day, a Jay Rock, Glasses Malone, or Kendrick Lamar will stop by HGR to show love to their "Day 1" supporters.
As hip hop's audience steps away from commercial radio back to the underground [which is now in the form of the internet], HomegrownRadio is destined to be a major catylyst in Los Angeles and abroad for the resurgence of #RealHipHop music.
