TY Dolla$ign

It all started with the MPC that his dad bought him. Everything else seems to be history for one of Los Angeles' hottest artists out right now. TY Dolla$ign sings, writes songs, and produces - which makes him, at bare minimum, a triple threat. Okay, so ALLSTAR ft. Joe Moses is all over the radio and, no doubt, I'm looking for dudes hopping out of Bentleys with white tees nowadays. BUT, is he really the all around musician that everyone says he is? I figured there was no other way to judge his skill but by downloading his latest offering, HOUSE ON THA HILL, a free 16-track mixtape hosted by DJ Mustard and DJ ILL WILL.

If you know me from twitter then you know I keeps it 1000. So, after first listening to House on the Hill, I only had this to say: THIS AINT NO MUTHAFUCKIN MIXTAPE!!!! It's more like an album. TY, are you sure that you wanted to give this to us for free 99? After listening to the album, I feel I know exactly the point TY$ was trying to get across: Yea, I sang and produced on YG's "TOOT IT AND BOOT IT", but I'm an artist to be reckoned with as well.

Without giving too much away, I will say that some of my favorite tracks on the mixtape include the techo-like "Get No Better" which features Fuego & Ly$$i, "Burn Somethin" ft. TeeCee4800, "Stripper Pole", "Go Get It" ft. Wiz Khalifa, and "Free TC" which features TeeCee4800 & Kid Ink... My only complaint, really, is that "Fuck All Yall" was a snippet and could have turned out to be a put on repeat anthem had I heard it in its entirety. =/
